Mediation Services

Artz & Dewhirst provides mediation services for courts, businesses, insurance companies, universities, government agencies, community organizations, membership organizations, and individuals. Mediation is a confidential process in which a neutral third party provides a structure for assisting disputing parties to resolve their conflict. Mediation is used to resolve disputes involving many issues including commercial contracts, divorce, workplace disagreements, personal injury claims, and labor-management contracts. Mediation is usually a voluntary process in which parties are given an opportunity to share their perspectives, listen to the other party's perspective, generate potential solutions to the conflict, and reach a mutually agreeable resolution to the conflict. Mediation is an increasingly used option to resolving disputes because it is less complicated, time consuming and costly than the traditional litigation process. To schedule a mediation or to learn more about mediation, please contact our office.

Arbitration Services

Artz & Dewhirst provides arbitration services for courts, businesses, insurance companies and individuals. Arbitration involved a neutral third party called an arbitrator who conducts an informal hearing and then issues a decision. There are many forms of arbitration, however private binding arbitration and court-connect non-binding arbitration are the most common forms. In private arbitrations, the parties make decisions regarding the rules, length, location and authority of the arbitrator prior to the commencement of the arbitration. Court-connected arbitrations are governed by the local rules of the court. Arbitration can be a viable alternative to the complicated, time consuming and costly aspects of the traditional trial process. To schedule an arbitration or to learn more about arbitration, please call our office.

Facilitation Services

Artz & Dewhirst provides group facilitation services to government agencies, community organizations, and non-profit organizations. Facilitation refers to the processes in which a neutral third party coordinates and conducts multi-party meetings designed to resolve a conflict, create a collaborative policy, or simply share information and perspectives. Facilitation is helpful when there are many parties to a conflict who represent varying perspectives and yet are interconnected. Facilitation is used to resolve disputes involving many issues including government regulations, environmental disputes, community services, zoning and land use, and inter and intra-organizational disagreements. To contract for facilitation services or to learn more about facilitation, please contact our office.
